Interview with C.V. Rosasco, author of "The Big Throw"

ABOUT C.V. ROSASCO

C.V. Rosasco is an author and psychotherapist living and working in a weird town called Hollywood. He has worked as a stage and soap opera actor, a childrens’ social worker in South Central L.A., an addiction specialist with gay addicts, and a janitor. He is a beach volleyball player, just took up Jiu-Jitsu, has had two nervous breakdowns ( 3 if you’re really counting), and is an avid meditator / yogi.
Q: Welcome to The Writer's Life, C.V. Rosasco Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how long you’ve been writing?

A:  I’ve been writing since I was about eight years old.  Being from a loving, but pretty messed up family, writing served to give me both an outlet and some much needed attention from adults.  In my later years I became and actor. I wrote a number of plays, most pertaining to the angst of living in Hollywood.

Q: Can you please tell us about your book and why you wrote it?

A:  The Big Throw is an adventure novel that has to do with how we as a people are stewarding the Earth and ourselves.  The book reads similar to a Narnia story but includes a modern political bi-line.  I wrote The Big Throw
as a way to fulfill my creative juices and to express my political and societal angst with regards to how we as a people seem hell bent on ruining our home and each other.

Q: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced writing it?

A: The biggest challenge hands down is my laziness.  I joined a goals group to keep me on track.  After reading the great book Art and Fear, I realized a lot of my laziness was a response to the fear of being rejected en mass once the book was released.  As long as I didn’t complete it, I didn’t risk rejection, simple!  I got over that obviously.

Q: Do you have a press kit and what do you include in it?  Does this press kit appear online and, if so, can you provide a link to where we can see it?

A:  A press kit can be obtained by e-mailing chasrosasco@aol.com

The press kit includes a summary of the novel, a short author bio, and contact information.

Q: Have you either spoken to groups of people about your book or appeared on radio or TV?  What are your upcoming plans for doing so?

A:  Other than Facebook, I am currently organizing a book blog tour.  Getting on TV or radio for a first time, self-published book, has been surprisingly tricky.  (yes, that’s sarcasm you here)

Q: Do you have an agent and, if so, would you mind sharing who he/is is?  If not, have you ever had an agent or do you even feel it’s necessary to have one?

A:  I’ve only had an acting agent so I doubt that counts.  (She was also the worst agent in Hollywood, hands down).  I have solicited agents, gotten a lot of rejections, and hope to rub the enormous success of The Big Throw in their faces. (I do think agents are helpful though and still hope to get one.

Q: Did you, your agent or publisher prepare a media blitz before the book came out and would you like to tell us about it?

A:  I’m self-published so the media blitz I’m doing is the book blog tour.  I read Amanda Hocking’s blog and she says that book bloggers are largely responsible for creating the leverage she needed to become successful as a self- published author (who was initially rejected by dozens of agents and publishers.  )

Q: Do you plan subsequent books?

A: I’m currently writing a paranormal romance novel. The main character is a 45 year old woman who is in the midst of mid life crisis and meets a very unusual lover.

Q: Thank you for your interview,  C.V. Rosasco,  Would you like to tell my readers where they can find you on the web and how everyone can buy your book?

A:  My book, The Big Throw, is available on Amazon as a soft cover book and a Kindle version.  It is also available for just about all e-readers on smashwords.  Thanks for your interest!
