Q:   Can you tell us a little bit about yourselves and how long you’ve been writing? SK: I always thought I could be a writer, but I actually KNEW I as a writer when I felt a spiritual affinity with nature. I wrote an entire book on virtues in two days. It's my next creation. RK: I have always kept a writing journal handy, and writing has been a lifelong hobby for me. It all ties in to helping others and making the world a better place. Q: Can you please tell us about your book and why you wrote it? A: In its 365 stories (a page a day!) Past Tense offers quick and practical solutions to life's most common stressors, including daily life challenges, environmental stressors, life changes and workplace problems. The book is broken down into 24 sections touching on stresses across the spectrum. It incorporates wisdom from the ancients as well as modern sages, plus Biblical quotes and teachings from major religions and philosophers. We like to think the book offer down-to-earth advice for people of all ages and from all walks of life. We'll likely never be rid of stress completely, but in our own small way, we're trying to eliminate it! Q: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced writing it? A: The biggest challenge was finding time to escape from everyone to write; finding quiet time for self-reflection. Q: Do you have a press kit and what do you include in it?  Does this press kit appear online and, if so, can you provide a link to where we can see it? A: Online review and pre-ordering information are available online at: http://www.americanscreeningcorp.com/Past-Tense-by-Shawn-Kilgarlin-and-Ron-Kilgarlin-P2955C216.aspx Q: Have you either spoken to groups of people about your book or appeared on radio or TV?  What are your upcoming plans for doing so? A: We currently have over 50 radio and television spots lined up. Q: Do you have an agent and, if so, would you mind sharing who he/is is?  If not, have you ever had an agent or do you even feel it’s necessary to have one? A: No, we don't have an agent. We chose to self-publish, for several reasons: we wanted to keep control of the process and the timeline; we had the funding to finance it; and probably most importantly, because of the nature of the book, and the nature of the work we do with our drug-screening equipment business, we had a built-in audience for the book who knew us and trusted us. Q: Did you, your agent or publisher prepare a media blitz before the book came out and would you like to tell us about it? A: We are doing blog tours and planning an exciting book launch party! Q: Do you plan subsequent books? A: At this point, we have over 55 published mini-books through the publishing arm of our company, American Screening Corporation. They include books on stress, drug and alcohol abuse, and so much more, all designed to create awareness while they educate both parents and teens. Shawn also has 15 new books started! Q: Thank you for your interview, Shawn and Ron.  Would you like to tell my readers where they can find you on the web and how everyone can buy your book? A:   www.americanscreeningcorp.com
